The Seven Currents · Reasoning & wisdom
Philosophia
To pursue understanding through careful reasoning, honest questions, and the examination of ideas.
Philosophia studies the reasons behind a belief. It considers existence, knowledge, ethics, and the meaning of a good life. A question is an invitation to examine an idea; uncertainty gives inquiry somewhere to begin.
Putting the Current into practice
Examine an argument
Identify its assumptions, the reasons offered, and whether the conclusion follows.
Read across perspectives
Compare interpretations and traditions without treating familiarity as proof.
Practice dialogue
Ask clear questions, represent another view fairly, and revise a conclusion when the reasoning warrants it.
The path of learning
The progression within Philosophia is Tiro, Legio, then Dux. Each stage joins understanding with the ability to put it into practice.
Tiro · Beginner
Learn to question clearly, identify assumptions, and distinguish a claim from its supporting reasons.
Legio · Practitioner
Develop and evaluate arguments, lead thoughtful discussion, and assist Tiros in their study.
Dux · Master teacher
Teach reasoning and ethics, maintain standards of honest inquiry, and evaluate depth of understanding.
How advancement works
Legios evaluate a learner’s work and make recommendations. The Duces hear the evidence and vote. The Legate presides over the process and does not vote.
A Current rank describes development within that Current. Membership status and an office of service in the Aedes describe other responsibilities and can overlap with a Current rank.
A place within the whole
Philosophia is one of the Seven Currents. Its work contributes to the wider life of Logosianism while retaining its own field of study and practice.
